National Park Facilities

The National Park Reserve which surrounds the Alice Springs Telegraph Station is open every day from 8am – 9pm.  The shaded lawns make a popular venue for picnics and barbecues. The public facilities available include:

  • Information signs
  • Drinking water
  • Public toilets
  • Disabled access
  • Picnic tables
  • BBQs
  • Ranger station – for emergency contact only

Walks & Hikes

The walks from the Trail Station Cafe area not only offer a glimpse into the natural beauty of the Red Centre but also provide an ideal setting for birdwatching and photography enthusiasts. As you traverse the hill country within the national park, you’ll find yourself immersed in the captivating scenery of the surrounding landscape.

Moreover, these walks serve as the inaugural stage, Stage 1 of 12, of the renowned Larapinta Trail, which meanders through the majestic West MacDonnell Ranges. Known for its rugged beauty, ancient landscapes, and rich Aboriginal cultural heritage, the West MacDonnell Ranges offer an unparalleled walking experience. With each step, you’ll uncover hidden gems and breathtaking vistas, making it an unforgettable journey through one of Australia’s most iconic landscapes.

At the heart of the Alice Springs Telegraph Station lies the renowned Alice Springs Mountain Bike Trail Network, serving as the starting point for numerous exhilarating rides across Central Australia. From novice to experienced riders, our trails cater to all skill levels, offering an unforgettable adventure amidst breathtaking surroundings

Meandering through the picturesque Alice Springs Telegraph Station Reserve, cyclists are treated to some of Australia’s finest mountain biking experiences, coupled with panoramic views of the iconic Australian Outback.

For added convenience, all trails are clearly marked, and maps are readily available at the Trail Station cafe.
